Kaoru0822andClaude Opus 5.5 83d2780008 fix(ida): refuse universal Mach-O targets in attached profiles (#4765)
Attached IDA binds the open database to the target only through the
recorded whole-input SHA-256, path and image base. Every slice of a
universal Mach-O shares that digest, so an attached database of another
slice passed the identity check and its results were attributed to the
host-selected architecture. Attached admission now reports the target
format as unsupported, with lipo -thin and headless recovery, before any
upstream contact. Headless mode keeps thinning the selected slice.

morluto 150e996a86 refactor(providers)!: await owned readiness observations
Carry asynchronous readiness through provider selection, session status, CLI and MCP. Join observations during cancellation and shutdown, keep status readable during finalization, and retain mixed provider errors and exact cleanup dependencies through the shared inspection failure owner.

Validation: 255 focused tests across 18 files; 21 registry tests rerun with primary restoration assertion; check:fast; docs:check and 5 README conformance tests. Registered MCP and SDK schema checks use controlled providers; no real Ghidra/JVM verification.

This is a prerequisite for #4561. The synchronous Ghidra Java producer and its doctor/client ownership migration remain unfinished.

BREAKING CHANGE: binary_session candidate availability can be unknown during owner finalization. Consumers must handle this state; the internal session status API is now asynchronous.

morluto 060587b456 fix(cli): prefer native byte inspection for automatic dispatch metadata
Allow the composed one-shot dispatch workflow to open a covered Mach-O
without selecting a deep provider. The registry still owns selector
precedence; explicit request/environment choices remain binding, while
non-Mach-O and unsupported hosts retain deep symbol fallback. Requested
snapshots keep ordinary binding and profile semantics.

Share runtime composition and target admission with the native byte reader.
Keep target parsing, resource ownership and Evidence on the original session.

Validation: 13 focused files, 192 passed and 2 skipped; npm run check passed.
The six previously blocked native property CLI controls now pass. Ten measured
CLI workflows preserved exact metadata facts; warm raw reply token medians
1344/927, elapsed .475/.547s, CPU .691/.745s, sampled family RSS351.2/359.3MiB
baseline/candidate. Baseline used explicit Ghidra workaround; true cold and
full-agent costs unmeasured. No speed/memory improvement or Windows claim.

Kaoru0822andClaude Opus 5.5 cf0a38ad97 fix(managed): project metadata with empty names without a display label (#3853)
The managed application graph copied metadata names into observation
labels. The graph schema requires a non-empty label or null, so Evidence
whose Module name was the string heap's empty entry made
project-managed-application-graph fail with invalid_request at
observations.0.label. The inspector accepts that Evidence as complete,
and no graph was returned.

Labels derived from metadata names (assembly, module, type, member,
P/Invoke import and native implementation) now become null when the name
is empty. The node's properties keep the source value, so display
formatting no longer rejects identity facts.

Ysopwnable 0f55f247cd fix(ghidra): preserve PE PDB coverage facts (#2933)
Preserve reported Program PDB identity, explicit omissions and nullable load state, retaining declared CodeView facts when equivalence is unknown. Bound JSON locator expansion and advance PE/workflow replay revisions without discarding historical Evidence.

Main already contains the shared canonical workflow collector. Integrate its unknown-PDB repair and fix the CLI fixture for the new artifact-session dependency. No unrelated pcap repair is included.

Validation: 309 focused tests across 15 files pass (2 Windows-only skips), runtime build and check:fast/pre-push pass. Real Windows Ghidra 12.1.4 PUBLIC/JDK 21.0.12.1 uses the public where.exe/PDB pair; 17 relevant production files match verified ca24903f. MCP cold/warm normalized results match and the backward graph has 3 successful nodes. Inputs are unchanged and no owned Java/Node processes remain. CLI inspection keeps its earlier exact-source scope. NB10 omission uses regression fixtures, without a real NB10 provider claim.

Tests keep 2-core affinity and 512 MiB Node/Java heaps. Retain the 600s analysis and 30s initialization timeout observations alongside the successful test-only extended-budget run; no product-default or cross-revision speedup claim.

Ariel Fikru Avicennaandmorluto c86b09a109 feat(ghidra): admit 32-bit big-endian PowerPC ELF (#1747)
* feat(ghidra): admit 32-bit big-endian PowerPC ELF

Recognize EM_PPC as a provider-neutral `powerpc` family that keeps its ELF
class, byte order, type and flags, and admit ELF32 big-endian ET_EXEC through
a bounded Ghidra lane. ELF64, little-endian, relocatable/shared objects and
EF_PPC_EMB are refused with a specific reason; Hopper and IDA do not gain
PowerPC support, and Windows Ghidra P0 is unchanged.

Ghidra's ELF loader selects PowerPC:BE:32:e500:default for a plain EM_PPC
header, which misreads 750-family code. The lane binds
PowerPC:BE:32:default/default in the profile (language_selection
"admitted-lane-v1"), imports with it and checks the reported language. A
language set through REA_GHIDRA_LANGUAGE_ID still replaces the lane default.

Add a source-owned fixture, fixed-encoding probe, GNU readelf cross-check and
the optional `verify:ghidra:ppc` real-provider lane, plus docs/ghidra-ppc.md.

23dc8fbf83 fix(application): accept alternative document selection in binary_ove… (#2680)
* fix(application): accept alternative document selection in binary_overview (#2460)

Update binary_overview capability negotiation so that either current_document or list_documents satisfies the document identity requirement, matching resolveAnalysisDocument runtime semantics. When a provider declares neither document capability, resolveAnalysisDocument reports AnalysisCapabilityUnavailableError for current_document rather than leaking the internal list_documents fallback. Preserve list_segments as an independently mandatory requirement.

* fix(application): retain document fallback provider errors

Return the fallback producer error unchanged, retaining operation identity, retry advice, diagnostics and cleanup instead of fabricating missing capabilities.

Source inspection and git diff --check; tests/builds/typechecks/CI reruns skipped at explicit user request.

* test(application): retain document fallback error expectations

Composition and MCP controls now expect the original list_documents producer error and reason.

Source inspection and git diff --check only. Tests, builds and typechecks skipped by explicit user request. GitHub review writes paused globally.

vtxandmorluto beca34f522 fix(ida): report missing tools when a compatibility profile mismatches (#2307)
A profile mismatch reached the caller as a bare AnalysisProtocolError,
which projects to `unreadable_output` with a generic message. The error
already named every missing tool, but none of that detail survived, so
the only way to identify the cause was to log the JSON-RPC traffic and
notice the exchange stopping after `tools/list`.

Throw a ProviderAdapterError instead, carrying the mode, the expected
profile and the missing tool names through the diagnostics channel that
already surfaces in `details`. Document which upstream versions each
profile accepts, since upstream `main` now serves neither.

Mykola Dementiev 5f8af4ee5f feat(ida): resolve containing procedures and report the admitted program as the document (#2374)
* test(mcp): expect trace_feature to report references the provider truncated

A provider that reports a capped xrefs read makes the trace truncated with a residual unknown for that target. An explicit complete report and a provider that reports nothing leave the trace as before.

* fix(mcp): report references a provider truncated in trace_feature

Executions gain an optional flag for a capped xrefs read, set by the IDA adapter from the upstream cap. trace_feature marks the trace truncated with a residual unknown for that target only when the provider reports a truncation; a provider that reports nothing keeps its previous result. The trace_feature workflow profile is revised so earlier results are not replayed.

* test(mcp): cover session forwarding, per-target state, native reports and failures of the trace coverage

* test(mcp): format the session forwarding test

* test(ida): expect headless IDA to resolve containing procedures from lookups and segment facts

Cover positive and negative containment, segment boundaries including addresses above 2^53, failures of the lookup and of the segment survey, cancellation, input validation and the admitted program as the only document.

* test(ida): expect feature tracing and address context to work on headless IDA

Run trace_feature, including a capped reference read, and inspect_address_context with and without an explicit document through the IDA session client.

* test(mcp): expect trace_feature availability to follow the search operations it calls

* fix(mcp): derive trace_feature availability from the search operations it calls

* feat(ida): resolve containing procedures and report the admitted program as the document

The modern headless profile resolves an address through the function lookup and, when no function contains it, tells a mapped address from an unmapped one using the database-scoped minimal survey. A survey that is missing, truncated or inconsistent fails the read. list_documents reports the single admitted program. The attached profiles do not declare either operation.

Kaoru0822andClaude Opus 5.5 2ff850de68 fix(session): attribute selected-provider capabilities to the resolved identity (#2013)
Profile resolution gives Ghidra and Hopper a concrete version, but the
selected candidate's capabilities and the session route kept the
provider's static identity with a null version. binary_session therefore
grouped capability sets under a different identity than the binding and
the selected candidate.

The registry now rebinds the selected provider's capabilities to the
resolved identity once, on the binding, and the route uses them. Evidence
provenance already compensated downstream by substituting the profile
identity; that repair is removed because the route now carries the
resolved identity.

morluto c002b89e2d fix(snapshot): bind replayed subjects to the selected target path
Rebind display paths only for matching artifact identities in primitive and composed replay. Preserve semantic Evidence IDs, payloads, and historical snapshot provenance. Classify snapshot filesystem workflows as boundary tests.

Validation: cache, direct workflow, MCP replay, and Evidence tests; combined checks and temporary-directory hygiene. Provider interactions are simulated for replay verification.

morluto c2b56e3e1c test: classify filesystem and process workflows by boundary
Move artifact inventory, application projection, runtime reconciliation, and TODO scanner suites into their real boundary lanes. Extract Hopper process/socket cleanup cases while keeping injected session cleanup cases in composition.

Validation: all 56 focused tests passed; discovery finds all 876 test files exactly once. Test assertions and provider verification scope are unchanged.

morluto dc303a8ee8 test(javascript): classify artifact workflows as boundary tests
Move the six JavaScript application suites that read production artifacts or launch compiled analysis workers out of composition. Focused test planning now prepares their runtime prerequisites instead of treating them as source-only tests.

Validation: all six relocated suites and adjacent artifact/reference suites pass (70 tests across eight files); discovery finds every test exactly once.

BaaRaiandmorluto f2150eb9a7 feat(harmony): project HarmonyOS package inventory evidence (#1447)
* feat(harmony): project HarmonyOS package inventory evidence

First HarmonyOS increment from #1431: HAP, HSP, and App Pack roots are
classified through the hardened ZIP reader and projected into an
execution-free application graph with packaging-model hints, exact
component paths and hashes, App Pack children by path, runtime-family
hints, and path-based N-API bridge hypotheses. HarmonyOS .har stays
unclassified by suffix because .har also names HTTP Archive JSON.

Adds the project_harmony_application_graph tool (CLI and MCP), synthetic
composition coverage, a pinned real-package verify lane, and docs.

* refactor(domain): share application graph projection scaffolding

The HarmonyOS projection mirrors the Android and Apple projections by
design, which pushed jscpd duplication over its 2.5 percent budget.
Extract the identical pieces (inventory input schema, projected
component schema and occurrence flattening, bridge candidate schema
factory, coverage assembly, comparator, canonical digest) into
domain/mobileApplicationGraphProjection.ts and route all three
projections plus the composition fixtures through it. Duplication drops
from 2.52 to 2.49 percent with no behavior change: projection ids,
classifications, and limitations are byte-identical.

* fix(harmony): address review, stable app-pack roots, and rotated fixture

- rebased onto main; the shared projection scaffolding now keeps main's
nativeRuntimeConvention loop and the harmony runtime families adopt the
  same react-native/flutter/unity path conventions
- the .app App Pack suffix is now a root-input rule only (verified ZIP
magic in classifyRootFormat and BinaryTargetResolver); nested .app ZIP
members inside other packages keep the generic zip classification, with
a regression test, so existing inventories do not change
- the signing limitation now states that an empty signing list does not
mean unsigned because packaging-tool signatures live in the ZIP signing
block, and the app-pack root rule is disclosed as suffix-based
- repinned the real-package fixture to the current VHome 2.6.14-beta asset
after the upstream deleted v5.0.111-beta and replaced the v2.6.14-beta
asset within hours; the pin records both observed digests

morluto 684199ba0b fix(javascript)!: retain nested artifact readers in caller scopes
Require the caller artifact resource scope when reading JavaScript artifacts. Transfer failed nested ASAR cleanup to that scope so later work retries the same owner before admission. Preserve traversal failures and attempt every remaining iterator during unwind.

Validation: reconstruction, integrity, content identity, cancellation and nested-reader cleanup boundary checks.

BREAKING CHANGE: readJavaScriptArtifactFiles now requires ArtifactResourceScope as its third argument; the optional abort signal is fourth.

morluto ffe0574e17 fix(artifacts)!: retain cleanup owners through client shutdown
Keep failed reader, root descriptor, and output-tree cleanup with the caller. Drain admitted work before close, retry the same retained owners, and block new resource work while cleanup is incomplete. Preserve primary failures and complete inventory observations.

Thread ownership through JavaScript reconstruction, the CLI's one-shot scope, MCP server shutdown, verifier scripts, and test fixtures. Remove redundant ownership flags and the unused validated test wrapper.

Validate with 850 passing focused tests across 90 suites (two skipped), targeted classification and cleanup retries, static and unused-code checks, and real macOS CLI/MCP directory, ZIP, and DMG workflows. Native Windows and deep-analysis providers were not verified.

BREAKING CHANGE: Direct artifact inventory/extraction and JavaScript analysis APIs require an explicit caller-owned ArtifactResourceScope. CLI and MCP input contracts are unchanged.

morluto b582b6ecb4 fix(managed): enforce module identity before joining token facts
Validate declared artifact and MVID scopes at managed Evidence admission, and reject conflicting known module declarations across graph inputs. Join boundary tokens to members only under matching known MVID scopes; preserve facts and report partial coverage when scope is unknown.

Prefer an observed MVID-bearing declaration with its supplying Evidence. Normalize GUID casing for module node identity while preserving original strings in observations.

Validation: 285 tests across 34 focused suites passed, followed by the final 12-test managed graph suite and managed CLI/MCP regressions. check:fast and architecture guards passed; no real native providers were run.

Jay-Alexander Elliotandgithub-actions[bot] bddddccdee feat(native): admit bounded MIPS ELF analysis through Ghidra (#1362)
* feat(native): admit bounded MIPS ELF analysis through Ghidra

Retain MIPS ELF identity and interpretation through Evidence and snapshots.
Keep provider admission bounded to ELF32 ET_EXEC o32 MIPS32r2, without
implicitly widening Hopper, IDA or Windows P0 coverage. Add source-owned
fixtures and an optional real-provider verifier; real Ghidra verification
remains pending in this contribution environment.

Refs #718

* fix(ghidra): bound MIPS floating-point mode admission

Reject explicit EF_MIPS_FP64 and EF_MIPS_NAN2008 declarations until their
semantics have a real-provider verification lane. Add PSP PRX/Allegrex,
o64/EABI and floating-point-mode refusal regressions. Document that the
header gate is not a full .MIPS.abiflags check and advance the profile lane
identity to invalidate older interpretation bindings.

Validation: 24 standalone checks against the transpiled production profile
module passed; the two new flag cases failed before this change. Clang 17
and LLD compiled the source-owned fixture for both endian targets. The
complete Vitest/typecheck suite and real Ghidra verification remain pending.

Refs morluto/rea#718; PSP support remains follow-up morluto/rea#1330.

* fix(native): validate MIPS ABI records before Ghidra admission

Read bounded ELF32 PT_MIPS_ABIFLAGS and SHT_MIPS_ABIFLAGS records through
the already-open target handle. Preserve declared ABI fields, reject
conflicting/duplicate/truncated records, and keep missing records unknown.
Wire inspection into target resolution before provider selection. Require
compatible declarations for the deliberately narrow Ghidra lane and bind
all ABI fields into profile identity (v3) for snapshot invalidation.

Clang 17 produced eight source-owned fixtures spanning both byte orders
and FPXX/FP32/FP64/soft-float modes with identical ELF header flags. The
new reader and policy distinguish them. 24 focused regression test bodies
passed after TypeScript transpilation using node:test in place of Vitest;
strict isolated TypeScript checking of the reader and target/result types
passed. These are limited checks, not full Vitest/project typechecking or
real-Ghidra verification, which remain pending.

Advances morluto/rea#718. PSP/Allegrex remains morluto/rea#1330 follow-up.

* fix(native): repair MIPS integration boundaries and test resolver behavior

Keep ELF targets out of Hopper Mach-O preparation and scope existing PE fixture types correctly. Move ABI tests into the filesystem boundary lane, use shared cleanup, add resolver regressions, apply the pinned formatter, and register the real MIPS verifier through the existing package-command pattern. Validated with repository-pinned Node/npm, check:ci, actual focused Vitest, discovery and docs:check. Real Ghidra conformance remains pending.

* fix(test): honor caller-selected JDK in real MIPS verification

* test(native): strengthen MIPS Ghidra conformance

Cross-check the source-owned fixture with bounded GNU readelf inspection, compare production ELF/ABI interpretation and independent symbol addresses, and verify effective Ghidra language/compiler identity through existing public operations. Add a source-owned fixed-encoding probe for immediate and conditional branch checks plus global/string byte assertions.

Add 16 assertion/producer-boundary regression cases without widening production admission, changing provider contracts, or introducing proprietary dependencies. Local focused suite: 99 passed, one existing root-permission test skipped. Typecheck, lint/module boundaries, formatting and 700-file discovery pass; full hosted checks and real Ghidra verification remain pending for this checkpoint.

* fix(ghidra): preserve native-tool architecture checks after MIPS integration

The conflict-free upstream merge failed TypeScript compilation because includes on the union of MIPS-only and other architecture arrays requires never. Use equality-based membership without casts or changing accepted native hosts. Extend the existing native-decompiler rejection table with a MIPS executable at a Linux x64 tool path; retain upstream FAT and unknown-header behavior. Hosted verification follows this commit; no success is claimed yet.

Kaoru0822andClaude Opus 5.5 4b985e5021 fix(artifacts): take nested container families from bytes (#1553)
Inventory gave nested members a ZIP or ASAR family from their path
suffix. Byte classification replaced it only for ZIP magic, so text named
`.apk` or `.asar` stayed a container, and encrypted entries and symlinks
kept the suffix guess. A filesystem `.asar` without an ASAR header failed
the whole inventory as a malformed archive.

Nested ZIP families now follow ZIP magic and ASAR follows its header
pickle, shared with root classification. An unread member named like a
container has an unknown format and a limitation naming the suffix. ASAR
expansion requires the header.

The Android projection adds a limitation when no root AndroidManifest.xml
was observed, and its rejection names the observed root format.

morlutoandCursor Agent b4db35f092 fix: bind identity and coverage to the producing rule (#1513)
* fix: bind identity and coverage to the producing rule

Logical paths, container families, examined bytes, path-segment conventions, destination collisions, file-id leases, Mach-O CPU selection, and firmware cleanup now follow the observation that owns each rule.

* fix: fail unmatched Mach-O slices and keep firmware roots independent

A fat target whose architecture lipo did not list now stops before slice tools run. Chained fixups still count unread LC_DYLD_INFO rebase bytes, and a firmware cleanup failure no longer blocks the next workspace.

* test: cover path identity and runtime families at the projection boundary

NFC joins and segment conventions are now asserted by the path resolver, the Apple projection, and a real APK inventory instead of helper unit tests.

* test: expect unread dyld rebase bytes in the Apple dispatch fixture

The legacy LC_DYLD_INFO fixture keeps a rebase range this reader does not decode, so the public CLI and MCP check now requires that partial coverage beside the bind opcodes.

morlutoandCursor Agent 1f0775684b fix(artifacts): keep case-distinct archive names in inventory (#1480)
ZIP member names are case-sensitive. Inventory was folding them with a
filesystem case rule, so shrunk APKs never became evidence for the Android
application graph. Logical registration now keeps both spellings and records
an English Unicode case-folding limitation. Extraction fails only when the
destination directory already holds the other spelling.

Kaoru0822andClaude Opus 5.5 499e2f54ef perf(evidence): stop copying normalized results into raw_result (#1402)
createAnalysisExecution defaulted an omitted rawResult to a second
complete copy of the result. Every caller that had no distinct provider
representation therefore doubled its Evidence: decode_interface_builder,
inspect_keyed_archive, inspect_asset_catalog, trace_dylib_resolution,
inspect_native_dispatch_metadata, observe_native_calls,
observe_native_ui/capture_native_ui_scenario (including screenshots), and
small Ghidra/IDA lifecycle records. Sibling operations of the same
providers already recorded null.

An omitted rawResult now records null. Normalized results are unchanged.
MCP responses repeat Evidence in text and structured content, so each
response and its share of the 10 MiB transport budget shrink by the same
half; e.g. trace_dylib_resolution on a real app bundle drops from
3,217,119 to 1,612,524 bytes per representation.
