Expose per-call firmware analysis budgets with exact recovery guidance, shared
CLI/MCP validation and retained actual settings. Keep publication and fixed
resource policy independent; preserve typed interruption and one captured-output
owner through command and one-shot cleanup.
Fixes#5851. Executed verification, real-provider limits, known baseline issues
and authorized readiness override are recorded in #5863.

Separate extraction/inventory and caller-selectable publication budgets in the shared firmware workflow. Preserve phase, selected timeout, verified progress, caller cancellation identity and committed observations through cleanup. Enforce monotonic expiry even before timer callbacks run.
Validated with 101 targeted tests, full static checks, documentation checks and real OpenWrt CLI/MCP workflows with digest and cleanup verification. Existing main CI failures are documented separately.
Fixes#4176.
Adapt the forwarding proposal in #4652 with a required signal before optional resource diagnostics. Migrate all callers and cover actual command registration during final close. Refs #4939.

* fix: select caller paths through symlinks and .. as the filesystem does
CLI adapters, binary target resolution, the reverse-engineering service
and the objdump and Rizin command builders made caller-selected paths
absolute with path.resolve, which collapses `link/..` lexically. On
POSIX the filesystem follows `link` first, so these commands inspected,
hashed or launched a different file and returned internally consistent
Evidence for it.
absoluteCallerPath now owns that step: on POSIX it prefixes a relative
path with the working directory and keeps an absolute path as spelled;
on Windows, where `..` resolves lexically, it keeps win32.resolve.

* fix: keep firmware, WASM list and output-root paths on the selected file
Review follow-up. The CLI already passed firmware and WASM paths through
absoluteCallerPath, but snapshotFirmware and SafeOutputTree.create
re-resolved them lexically, and the WASM glue and candidate lists still
used resolve, so those inputs could still select a sibling file or
create output beside the intended directory.
absoluteCallerPath now also drops `.` segments and repeated or trailing
separators on POSIX, which never change the named file, so selected
paths such as `./module.wasm` keep matching their glue references
exactly. Every `..` is still left for the filesystem.
SafeOutputTree keeps host path syntax; its platform argument selects only
the Windows name policy.

* fix: keep directory requirements and relative cwd in caller paths
Review follow-up. absoluteCallerPath stripped a trailing `/` or `/.`, so
`file/` selected the regular file instead of failing with ENOTDIR; it
now keeps one trailing separator. A relative cwd option was appended to
the root; it is now made absolute without collapsing `..`. WASM glue
matching resolved local literals lexically, so a module selected through
`link/..` matched only by basename; the adapter now compares both sides
through absoluteCallerPath and still reports each candidate as given.

Derive extraction limits and web module fields from the shared contracts. Reject empty or NUL-containing local paths before CLI path resolution, preserve firmware relative-path handling, and apply the advertised extraction defaults.
Validate advertised JSON Schemas with Ajv and check the registered parser defaults; prune redundant schema-shape and description assertions.
* fix(contracts)!: require absolute local paths for remaining caller-supplied file inputs
Follow-up to the session snapshot/export tightening: the same invisible server-cwd resolution applied to open_binary target paths (parseBinaryTarget(path, process.cwd())), import_evidence_bundle bundle reads, firmware input files (resolve(raw)), browser executable launch paths (resolve-then-spawn), Electron executable/application/root paths (realpath on raw input), and the expected server path check.
Each field gains the shared isAbsoluteLocalPath refinement plus a catalog-visible description, since JSON Schema cannot express the rule. Examples, scenario fixtures, and contract tests updated to absolute paths; new schema cases cover rejection/acceptance/omission per field.
Explicitly unchanged (verified rooted or out of scope): inspect_plist paths (resolved against the target bundle dir), firmware output_directory (already provider-enforced), filesystem observation paths (resolved against the caller-supplied working_directory), keyed-archive member paths (archive-relative), JS evidence member paths (evidence-relative under root_alias), provider-internal execution schemas, CLI-only doctor flows, and CLI options (own resolve against the operator cwd).
* fix(cli): resolve operator-relative paths before shared absolute-path validation
The contract tightening rejects relative paths, but three CLI commands forward operator-relative input into the shared schemas: firmware commands pass raw args to FirmwareAnalysisService, and the Electron/browser scenario commands validate parsed scenario JSON directly. CLI paths are relative to the operator shell, so resolve them against the working directory first: resolve() in firmwareCommands, and a shared resolveCliJsonPaths JSON key-path helper (cliJsonInput) applied in electronCommands and cliBrowserScenarioCommands. MCP behavior is unchanged — MCP callers must still send absolute paths.
Covers the regression with a relative-path firmware CLI acceptance test (asserts provider-stage capability_unavailable, not a validation error) and unit tests for the helper.
