Use the public rename API for an explicit empty existing name, retain omitted names and raw listing values, and verify fresh unnamed creation and explicit mutations by readback. Preserve independent verifier restorations and their primary failures.
Refs #5475. Focused bridge regressions and the complete real-Hopper suite passed on macOS arm64 with Hopper 6.6.0-demo 42.6316032. The verifier used a temporary unavailable Ghidra override to meet its sole-candidate prerequisite; reporter Hopper 6.1 remains unverified.
Keep complete decoded string records in Hopper's existing search inventory
and directly project literal matches, removing the redundant full record
projection and superseded value-only representation.
Record real Linux CLI/MCP correctness and Evidence checks, shorter warm
queries, negative whole-task costs, native coverage gaps and resource stops.
Fixes#5010.

* fix(cleanup): preserve owner recovery instructions
Keep cleanup remediation through combined errors and direct or managed one-shot analysis while retaining primary diagnostics.
Refs: #4227
* fix(hopper): recover late startup and retained cleanup
Authenticate initial and cleanup handshakes through the same identity owner. Expose startup and cleanup activity, retain health after target retirement, and expire abandoned unauthenticated listeners without timing out authenticated work.
Refs: #4227
* fix(providers): retain composite lifecycle facts across retries
Preserve observed child health with incomplete peer coverage, retry only unresolved clients, and retain all child cleanup recovery actions.
Refs: #4233
* fix(process): honor cancellation through capture cleanup
Check the request signal after cleanup and before final publication, retaining completed observations under typed cancellation.
Refs: #4005
* fix(native): preserve failed LLDB launch ownership and exit proof
Publish failed-launch process identity and observed exit separately from object validity. Retire only the exact owned process and retain uncertainty when exit cannot be established.

* fix(native): honor cancellation after trace finalization
Check cancellation after runtime-root cleanup and retain collected trace observations as partial cancellation evidence.

* fix(cli): preserve analysis results when provider cleanup fails
Reuse the existing one-shot finalizer across thirteen command families to retain completed Evidence and primary diagnostics on close failure. Cover success, denied cleanup, and combined primary/cleanup failure through the public CLI.

* docs(lifecycle): define completion invariants and regression scenarios

* fix(session): retain run identity through pending cleanup
* fix(cli): preserve original cleanup resource diagnostics
* fix(native): retain completed facts through finalization failure
* fix(providers): report retained cleanup paths at their owners
Share tagged readiness observations, retain partial provider facts, authenticate bridge identity, bound diagnostics, and preserve cancellation and lost-session reasons. Fail closed for unparsed MIPS ABI attributes and macOS saved Hopper databases without a script-capable bridge route.

Validation: 285 focused source/boundary tests passed. Real Ghidra, IDA, Linux Hopper, and Windows provider runs were not repeated.
BREAKING CHANGE: MIPS targets with unresolved GNU ABI attributes and saved Hopper databases on macOS are refused rather than advertised as supported.
Declare observed Ghidra and Hopper facets, preserve unavailable pseudocode, and attach dossier call-set coverage. Version the analysis profiles to invalidate older snapshots and remove the retired include_assembly fixture branch.
Add MCP comparison and snapshot-replay regressions plus real-provider checks for empty and unavailable facets. Fixes#2980.
Preserve the primary Hopper startup failure and launcher diagnostics while retaining resources when cleanup cannot be confirmed. Reauthenticate matching external application sessions before document cleanup, keep the Python bridge available for bounded reconnects, and expose the provider-owned Hopper startup deadline.
Real headless Linux Hopper semantic analysis and 65 focused configuration, handshake, cleanup, and bridge tests passed. macOS authorization/crash causes and saved-HOP behavior require their own real-provider verification.

Reject omitted segment bounds, procedure classification and body facts, unresolved-call observations, dossier facets, and Ghidra parameter flow metadata. Providers emit explicit nulls for unsupported facets. Verify those unknowns in the real Hopper workflow.
BREAKING CHANGE: Provider analysis outputs must explicitly supply metadata previously repaired with defaults; unsupported nullable facets must be reported as null.
* perf(hopper): resolve string search records once per query
search_strings called _string_inventory(document) once per match, and each
call sorts every string address and rebuilds the record dict, so a query cost
O(matches x strings log strings). Resolve the inventory once per search.
Warm search, 50% matches, fake document, best of 7: 1000 strings 186 -> 0.5 ms,
4000 strings 3161 -> 2.1 ms, 8000 strings 13121 -> 4.9 ms; output byte-identical.
* perf(hopper): skip record resolution for empty string searches
Resolving the full string inventory for a query with no matches added a sort
of every string address that the previous code never performed. Return early
when nothing matches. Zero-match search on a warm document, best of 7:
64000 strings 35.9 ms before this change, 4.0 ms after (main: 3.9 ms).
* fix(hopper): preserve owned basic-block endpoint instructions
* test(hopper): share probe runner and restore fixture hashability
Reuse one probe helper with the facade test's execFile options
(encoding, timeout, maxBuffer) instead of repeating the invocation.
Give the fixture Block a hash consistent with its equality so the
equality-based ownership doubles stay hashable.
* fix(hopper): align owned instruction walks with normalized block ranges

Read source digests, FAT tables and embedded headers from one opened source stream before translating native offsets. Preserve native mapping observations through changed, missing, nonregular and access-denied source failures; keep filesystem work outside the Hopper API thread.
Exercise source drift, relocated slices, missing files, permissions and recovery through real Hopper CLI/MCP verification for thin, FAT32 and FAT64 inputs.
Preserve native document identity, nullable bookmark labels, address diagnostics, segment-end byte prefixes, and verified file mappings. Validate batch rename addresses before mutation.
BREAKING CHANGE: remove set_current_document. Use open_binary to switch targets; document arguments are scoped to the active target.

* refactor!: simplify runtime tools and remove replay engines
Keep direct inspection, capture, and comparison tools. Bind handlers to named contracts and let agents compose experiments with commands and local fixture servers.
